Aaosphaeria arxii (Aa) Aptroot (Decampiaceae) was originally isolated from corn  (Zea maydis) in Columbia and it has been found on various plants later. The ascomata are scarce and have wide round ostiols filled with pseudoperiphyses. The outer wall is forming a textura intricata and the inner wall is composed of brown, thick-walled and compressed cells. The asci are numerous, bitunicate, and contain eight ascospores. The ascospores are brown, almost fusiform, with a finely pitted outer wall layer. The life style of Aaosphaeria arxii is unknown.
