Peziza echinospora is a moderate-sized, saprophytic cup fungus in the Pezizaceae. The contrast in color between its upper and lower surfaces, its ornamented spores, and its restriction to burnt soil help to identify it. It can be a highly abundant fruiter in spring and early summer after fall forest fires. Like other pyrophilous fungi, its restriction to post-fire soil environments makes its enzymatic capacity of interest.
