Arthroascus fermentans 17710 was sequenced as part of the

1000 Fungal Genomes Project

Arthroascus fermentans is an ascomycetous fermenting yeast first isolated from soil samples from carambola and papaya orchards in Taiwan. DNA hybridization and base composition experiments indicated that A. fermentans was distinct from previously described Arthroascus species.
