Mar 2014. The Aspergillus niger NRRL3 genome was sequenced not by JGI, but by Adrian Tsang's lab at Concordia University. The NRRL3 genome was assembled to 15 conigs with seven gaps corresponding to seven of the eight putative centromeres, all 16 telomeres were assembled. Strain NRRL3 is near identical to ATCC1015 with fewer than 20 SNPs between them.
