The genome sequence and gene prediction of Malbranchea cinnamomea CBS 34355 have not been determined by the Joint Genome Institute (JGI), but were downloaded from CSFG on July 31, 2022. In order to allow comparative analyses with other fungal genomes sequenced by the JGI, a copy of this genome is incorporated into Mycocosm. Please note that this copy of the genome is not automatically updated. JGI tools were used to automatically annotate predicted proteins.

Malbranchea cinnamomea is a thermophilic fungus belonging to the order Onygenales that grows optimally at 45-55 °C (1). Malbranchea cinnamomea is an important source of thermostable lignocellulolytic enzymes (2,3) and secondary metabolites with antimicrobial activities such as penicillin and malbracinin (4). The genome of M. cinnamomea is expected to provide insight into a variety of secondary metabolite pathways and thermostable enzymes with industrial applications.
