Rhodotorula mucilaginosa ATCC 58901 is a red-colored
basidiomycetous fungus that produces carotenoids. It was isolated
from decayed, fallen Eucryphia cordifolia, Chile and can grow on a
wide range of carbon sources. The strain was obtained from the ATCC
