Tothia is a genus of fungi in the Venturiaceae family
whose placement in the Dothideomycetes class is uncertain.
Dothideomycetes is the largest and most diverse class of ascomycete
fungi. It comprises 11 orders 90 families, 1300 genera and over
19,000 known species.
This is a monotypic genus, containing the single species Tothia
fuscella. Its ascospores resemble Microthyrium in
being one-septate, guttulate, and slightly asymmetrical but differ
in their dilute brown color. This genome was sequenced as part of
the 1000 Fungal Genomes
Project.
