JGI portals provide data for MEROPS peptidase annotations for many of our organisms and organism group pages.
There are two pages where you can see information about MEROPS annotations. Merops Annotations Summary Page and Proteins Browser Page.
Click on the MEROPS tab on the organism or group portal to go to the MEROPS Annotations Summary page for the given organism or group.
Merops Annotations Summary Filter
At the top of the page are controls to filter the displayed MEROPS annotations.
By default the filter is empty and you can see all MEROPS annotations available for the organism or organism group.

button shows the MEROPS annotation hierarchy expanded to only top level with all lower levels collapsed. This is the default view for MEROPS annotations when you first view the page.
button shows the MEROPS annotation hierarchy with all levels expanded. You can collapse or expand any individual node in the MEROPS hierarchy at any moment by clicking anywhere in the first column except for the MEROPS code itself. If you click on the MEROPS code you will be redirected to the MEROPS web site describing this MEROPS annotation.
- The next input field is for setting the filter for displaying MEROPS annotations. You can enter your desired filter like "iron" or "zincin" (without double quotes) to filter out only those proteins that match the keywords search.
After you entered the filter value into the field hit the Enter key on the keyboard or click on "Filter" button to apply your new filter and show only the matching results.
button removes any filter and shows all MEROPS annotations for the organism or organism group.
check box allows you to hide the whole MEROPS hierarchy and shows only the part of the hierarchy matching the current filter.
check box allows you to see the totals for only the MEROPS annotations matching the filter term. If you uncheck this check box you will see a pair of totals separated by a "/" character. The left number represents the total number of annotations matching the filter criteria, and the right number shows how many annotations total there are without the filter.
Merops Annotations Summary Table
This table shows the MEROPS hierarchy and totals of MEROPS Annotations for every organism in the group.
Every row represents one MEROPS annotation or group the name of which is displayed in the first column and every column represents one organism. Every cell contains the total number of proteins with a given MEROPS annotation for a given organism.
Totals and sub-totals for MEROPS clans, families and sub-families are shown according to the MEROPS hierarchy. The last column and the first row and contain totals across the row or column, respectively.
You can click on any value in the table to go to the MEROPS annotations page to see the list of MEROPS annotations making up the total.
